NBC Fail: Trauma
Last week NBC announced that ‘Trauma’ will be canceled. They will finish production and air the original 13 episodes, but there will never be a season 2. The good news is, nobody cares. ‘Trauma’ got horrible ratings from the start. I can’t be surprised by this, I have to say, after watching Scrubs for years and finally giving up on Grey’s Anatomy, I’m just not ready for another medical show. Apparently no one else is either, but for some reason NBC thought it would be a good idea to have two: ‘Trauma’ and ‘Mercy’. The idea of having paramedics be the focus instead of the doctors or nurses in the hospital is interesting, but I still don’t care. I didn’t even become aware of ‘Trauma’ until my dad started to email me about continuity errors he was noticing in the show. Ever since I started working in post production, my parents have taken a more active role in watching television, and they like to share their findings with me. My dad summed up his email by saying “They do a lot right on that show, (the two-helicopter crash into the building was pretty spectacular in the pilot) but it seems like they continually have these little continuity problems going on. It’s just not tight…huge budgets and lots of $ don’t necessarily mean they do it right.” And he was right. The only thing this show really had going for it was that it had a huge budget. But huge budgets don’t mean good ratings, or good shows – no matter how good you at at crashing helicopters into each other.

Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Trauma was the only reason I was watching tv this fall!!!! The drama! The intensity! TRAUMA!!! You will be missed! I guess it’s back to CSI: Miami for me…
